Dear Humans,
Well, it's taken a while but we thought it was about time we started this journal. We've been through a lot as a band since we formed 3 years ago and the idea behind writing this part of the forum was to share with you all not only what we are doing but more importantly, why we are doing it.......
People start bands for lots of reasons and have lots of hopes and expectations......for us, it is about living life the way we want to and not simply accepting the preferred way of life various authorities impose on us all from day one, beginning with our parents. When we formed back in 2003, we all had the clear aim of not only making the music we wanted to make, but we wanted to live and breathe together so that the music would be the product of that experience.......for us, it's the experience of having done that and lived it that is the most cherished personally and Dear Human is the musical product that we want share with you all and hope that you can relate to our experiences of this crazy gift of life that we have been given.
Therefore, we thought we would begin with a rundown of the album in terms of how each song came into being beginning with......
(OPIATE)
The title was a possible choice of band name we came up with to reflect our passion for music (until we found out another oufit had adopted it and then came up with Ardency which ultimately describes us a lot more accurately) and came from a battered night Jason and Jade shared....they rather enjoy making jovial pisstake recordings when in this mood and that was certainly the vibe...the original recording actually goes into a mad rap version of Neither Here Not There but alas, dear reader, only a select few have ever heard that particular ditty - one for the Ardency Anthology Cds perhaps? We had already decided by this point that This Is Now would be the album opener and that we wanted a preceeding intro and when we listened to it the next day we thought, 'f**kin hell, that's it!' It sets the tone for the album perfectly......just goes to show that happy accident can be as valuable a creative tool as intention and design!
Was gonna do the whole album in one sitting but think one song per entry seems more fitting - also means we have a guaranteed theme for the next 12 entries - love it!
In the meantime, would be great to hear from any and all of you who have an opinion on anything written in these pages or about life generally.......we'd like this to be a two way process.....
Much love
